AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF BOLIVAR, COUNTY OF WESTMORELAND AND COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA, AUTHORIZING INTER-MUNICIPAL COOPERATION IN THE PURCHASE OF POLICE PORTECTION SERVICE FROM THE BOROUGH OF NEW FLORENCE
WHEREAS, the Borough of Bolivar, wishes to purchase police protection service from the Borough of New Florence; and
WHEREAS, cooperation among the said municipalities in the performance of their governmental powers and duties is authorized by Article IX, Section 5 of the Pennsylvania Constitution, the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act, 53 Pa.C.S. § 2301 et. seq. and the Borough Code, 8 P.S. §§ 1121 and 1202 (24); and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Bolivar believes that participation in a contract to provide police service to its citizens will be in the best interest of the borough and its citizens;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED AND ORDAINED, and it hereby is enacted and ordained, by the Council of the Borough of Bolivar, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania:
Section 1. The Borough is hereby authorized through its appropriate officers to execute an agreement to obtain police protection service from the Borough of new Florence, on terms that Council shall deem appropriate, and hereby ratifies any agreement executed prior to the enactment of this Ordinance with the Borough of New Florence for police protection service.
