Authorizing PA Rivers
Conservation Planning
Project
Authorizing the Conemaugh Valley Conservancy , Inc to conduct a Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Program Planning Project
Whereas, the people in the Kiski-Conemaugh River Basin have a right to clean air, pure water and to the preservation of the natural scenic, historic and esthetic values of the environment, and
Whereas, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is authorized to make grants under the Keystone Recreation, Park and conservation Act (Act 50 of July 2, 1993) to municipalities and other appropriate organizations for the purpose of river conservation, protection, and the establishment of a "Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Registry" and,
Whereas, the Conemaugh Valley Conservancy has submitted an application for funding under the Rivers Conservation Program sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, with the goal of including the rivers in the Kiski-Conemaugh River Basin on the Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Registry, and
Whereas, the Conemaugh Valley Conservancy will act on behalf of the municipalities in the Kiski-Conemaugh River Basin as "Project Team Leader" and,
Whereas, it is the intent of the "Project Team leader" to involve as many of the local municipalities and other interested parties and citizens in the preparation of this "River Conservation Plan" in the Kiski - Conemaugh River Basin.
Now therefore, be it resolved and it is resolved by the Council of the Borough of Bolivar, County of Westmoreland, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that the Conemaugh Valley Conservancy is designated to act, on behalf of said Borough as the "Lead Agency" in undertaking the programmatic activities of the Rivers Conservation Program for the Kiski-Conemaugh River Basin.
